Seasonal Weather in Santa Fe

Spring

Spring in Northern New Mexico is very dry and relatively cold. Temperatures typically top out around 60 degrees but dip down into the low 40s well into the month of May. While the Santa Fe weather may not be ideal for those looking to escape the cold, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts will love that the skiing and snowboarding season extends through April depending on the year. It’s a great time to beat the crowds and find deals on lodging in the area as this is one of the slowest seasons in the City Different.

Summer

The Land of Enchantment’s landscapes consist of mountains and deserts, so it makes sense that it gets incredibly hot in the summer, right? Actually, summers in the high altitude regions of Northern New Mexico are pleasantly mild. You can expect the Santa Fe summer weather to stay warm and dry. Temperatures range from the low 80s to the high 50s, averaging out in the high 60s. There are very few days where it reaches 90 degrees. Make sure you bring a jacket if you plan on walking around at night as it can get chilly when the sun goes down.

Fall

Simply put; fall is the best time to visit the City Different. The weather in Santa Fe is at its best from September through November, when temperatures range from the high 20s to the high 70s. Like spring, fall is a slower season so rates drop and crowds are thin, giving you the freedom to explore the city and surrounding areas without burning a hole in your wallet.

Winter

Winter is the slowest season in Santa Fe. The temperatures drop into the low 20s and average about 30 degrees. While this is not an optimal time to visit and experience the history and hiking, skiers and snowboarders enjoy excellent snowfall during these months. Regardless of which month you visit our historic city, the Santa Fe weather always provides fun and memorable activities.

Tip: Check availability at our sister property, El Farolito, across town during the winter. Several rooms have kiva fireplaces in the rooms which are perfect for a cold Santa Fe night.
