Clovis, NM

Clovis is only 10 minutes from the Texas border and there is really only one attraction worthy of a stop. Music enthusiasts will love visiting Norman Petty Studios on West 7th Street. Petty is well known as the music producer for the famous 1950s band Buddy Holly. He also produced for artists like Waylon Jennings, Roy Orbison, and other popular musical artists. Tours of the studio are available by appointment only, so plan ahead for your trip!
Santa Rosa, NM
Like Clovis, Santa Rosa has one primary highlight, and that is the Blue Hole. This 80-foot wide pool of deep blue water is a welcome reprieve from the hot desert surrounding it. The Blue Hole is surprisingly an incredibly popular diving spot with a depth of 80 feet and a small cavern system extending further down to depths of up to 200 feet. Still, most people stop here to jump into the clear, refreshing water.
The Turquoise Trail
There are three places worth stopping along historic Turquoise Trail through the backcountry of the Land of Enchantment. Golden, Madrid, and Los Cerrillos each have a unique culture. Golden is the site of the first Gold Rush west of the Mississippi, Madrid is a small burgeoning artist community, and Los Cerrillos is an old mining town that looks like it is straight out of the Wild West.
